UK-wide Stop Trump Coalition rallies are being held as MPs debate a petition to halt the President’s state visit. Follow both events as they happen
The campaign to stop Donald Trump making a state visit erupts today in protests the length and breadth of Britain.
Rallies by the ‘Stop Trump Coalition’ are timed to coincide with a debate by MPs on whether to ban the formal trip later this year.
Westminster will discuss a petition to halt the trip that was signed by 1.8million people.
At the same time, crowds will gather in London’s Parliament Square with speakers and banners from 5pm to 8pm.
The debate is not legally binding – but campaigners hope it will send a defiant message to the President over his travel ban and shame the UK government.
